This is where you can sign up for The Buddy Program! Your first step is to register by answering a few questions. When we have located a buddy for you, you will receive a text message and an email. After that, you can both contact each other in order to decide when and how you want to meet up for the first time. Do you want to know more before signing up? Read more below.
Finding a Match
We match an established Swede with a new Swede based on, among other things, interests, gender, age, and where you live. When we have found a match, you will receive a text message and an email with information about your new buddy and how you can contact each other.
The First Contact
We recommend that you reach out to your buddy as soon as possible so that you can get started and get to know each other. Feel free to talk to each other about how often you are available to meet or have contact. This makes it easier for you both to have similar expectations.
The Journey
We follow you and your buddy during the first six months, and continuously check in on how things are going. If something doesn’t feel right, we are happy to give advice and tips. We can also try to find a new match if you wish.
To Be Continued
After six months, 7 out of 10 buddies state that they want to stay in touch with their buddy. Many of those we have brought together over the years have become close friends and continue to be friends many years after we matched them.
Almost convinced but still a little bit unsure?
We match people who are new to Sweden with people who are established here. When we match, we look at, among other things, gender, age, interests, family situation, professional background or anything else that you might find important.
How often should we talk to each other?
We recommend that you try to be in touch with your buddy about once a week or every other week if it works for both of you. From experience, we know that the participants who are in regular contact with each other are the ones who get the most out of the friendship.
How old do I have to be?
You must be at least 16 years old to register. If you are under 18 years of age, you need your guardian’s approval to sign up.
As part of signing up for the program, we check in on you and your buddy during the first six months. Therefore, we would like you to try to meet and keep in touch regularly during this period. 7 out of 10 friends after six months state that they wish to continue meeting each other – and many have become friends for life.

What if one of us can’t participate anymore?
Sometimes things happen in life that makes you unable to continue being part of the program. In those situations, we are here to help as best we can and always offer to try to find a new buddy if any of you want it.
